About the Procedure

You will be asked to lie on the CT table, which is a moved to the correct body part to be examined. You will be able to see out both ends of the scanner. The technologist will be observing you during the scan and you will be on a two-way speaker system by which you may communicate with the technologist at all times. The scanning time of the exam takes about 1 to 3 minutes, using our ultra-fast newest generation scanners. Images are then sent to one of our radiologists with special expertise in CT imaging for interpretation

Computed-tomographic (CT) angiography is a technique used to image vessels. It is most widely used to visualize vessels in your head, neck, chest , abdomen and legs. It uses a special fast CT technique to acquire images of the vessels. The images are used to generate three-dimensional maps of these vessels. It is considered a minimally invasive imaging technique because a contrast agent containing iodine must be administered in your vein (through an IV) during the test and because x-rays (ionizing radiation) must be applied to your neck and head. Alternatives to this test include magnetic resonance angiography (MRA), Doppler ultrasound, and catheter angiography.
